While the main system firmware (PSVUPDAT.PUP) handles the core system modules, the font package is specifically designed to provide the necessary typefaces and character sets for the graphical user interface (GUI). Without this font package, many text elements within the emulator may appear as garbled symbols, empty squares, or be entirely missing. It is mandatory for some applications and is especially critical for Asian region font support in the GUI. While some users can get by without it, installing the font package ensures a visually correct and fully functional emulation experience and is generally recommended.

If you completed the setup but still cannot see text, the firmware installation may have corrupted. Go to Configuration > Initial Setup to run the wizard again, and re-install the PSVUPDAT.PUP file. Error: "Invalid File Format"
