After being diagnosed with a form of Parkinsonās disease that robbed her of her ability to sing, Ronstadt retired from performing in 2011. However, her influence has only grown. In 2014, she was awarded the National Medal of Arts, and in 2019, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a long-overdue honor for the woman Rolling Stone called "one of the greatest singers of her generation".
