GA was an accomplished literary translator, primarily responsible for introducing Marathi readers to a series of American classics. Between 1967 and 1968, he translated five novels by Conrad Richter— The Trees , The Town , The Free Man , The Light in the Forest , and The Fields —into Marathi as part of a project initiated by the United States Information Service (USIS). Later in his career, he translated William Golding’s Lord of the Flies into Marathi, a work published in 1987.
