The story centers on Kotoko Iwanaga, a young girl who, after being kidnapped by spirits (yokai), becomes the "Goddess of Wisdom," a mediator between the human world and the supernatural realm. Kotoko is described as a funny, arrogant, but incredibly smart 17-year-old who lost an eye and a leg in exchange for her new role, receiving a prosthetic leg and glass eye.
