The story took a strange turn a year later. On October 26, 2014, Rockstar celebrated the 10th anniversary by releasing an "HD Remaster" of San Andreas for the Xbox 360 (and later for the PS3 in 2015). Enthusiastic fans quickly discovered something was terribly wrong. Analysis by the technical experts at Digital Foundry revealed that the new "remaster" was not based on the original Xbox or PC code but was, in fact, the running on consoles.
