Do not attempt to install version 16.x or higher on Android 4.1. It will result in a "Parse error" or "App not installed."
This happens if the APK file is corrupted during download, or if you downloaded a version meant for a higher Android version (like Android 5.0+). Google Play Services Apk Android 4.1
Using your device's stock browser (or transferring the file via USB from a computer), download the verified Google Play Services version 21.30.99 APK file. Step 3: Install the Package Do not attempt to install version 16
Go to Settings > Security and check the box for "Unknown Sources" to allow app installation from outside the Play Store. Step 3: Install the Package Go to Settings
Because the native Google Play Store on Android 4.1 may no longer open without an updated framework, sideloading via an APK file is the most reliable recovery method.
