Central to his practical teachings were concepts like ( Orunginaitha Pannai ), where crops, livestock, and trees work together in a closed-loop system; water management techniques suited to local conditions; and the use of natural formulations like Pancha Kavyam —a mixture of five cow products (dung, urine, milk, curd, and ghee) used as a growth regulator and pest repellent. Nammalvar championed native crop rotation, the revival of traditional seeds, and bio-intensive cultivation techniques that prepare soil in layers of biodegradable waste for better yields. He once famously said, "It is no use trying to teach a farmer. Instead, one should make the farmer understand the issue."
